What Is An Alcohol Assessment And Should I Get One?

In a DWI/DUI case it is important for our clients to get an alcohol assessment as early in the process as possible.  An alcohol assessment must be completed before you can get a limited driving privilege while you await trial.  An assessment is also important if you are convicted of DWI/DUI because it can be used as a factor to help reduce you sentence.  At the Law Offices of Banks Huntley, we would be happy to guide you through the alcohol assessment process and give you information on how we can help you fight your DWI/DUI conviction.  (704) 910-6278

An alcohol assessment is a standardized evaluation to determine whether or not you have any substance abuse issues, according to state guidelines. It also involves a clinical interview with a substance abuse counselor. At the conclusion of the assessment, depending on a number of legislatively mandated factors, the counselor will recommend some type of alcohol class or treatment, which you will be ordered to complete if you are convicted of a DWI/DUI.

There are a number of different facilities in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties that can preform an assessment.  Once you have picked a facility for your assessment, you will need to appear for your appointment with a copy of your DWI/DUI citation and your alcohol concentration testing results (breath or blood test results). The assessment fees average approximately $125.00.
