What Is The Difference Between DWI and DUI?

For the most part, there is no difference between the offense of DWI (driving while impaired) and DUI (driving under the influence). In North Carolina today, when someone is charged with a drug or alcohol related driving offense, the actual offense they will be charged with is DWI. Attorneys and clients both use these terms interchangeably but the correct name for the offense is DWI.
